Club Introduction

The Lowveld Canoe Club (LCC) was initiated by Gerhard Steyn and founded in 1985, Gerhard became the club Chairman supported by fellow founding members, G.Malan (Secretary), Johan van Heerden, Francois de Wet and Donovan Botes. In the early days, Friedenheim Dam was the base from where its members trained and hosted time trails, until the dam was closed to the public. LCC then established its club facilities at Longmere Dam, just north of White River.

Over the years the clubhouse and facilities have improved with thanks to loyal club members such as Andreas van Tonder (Ikotwe), Le Roux de Beer, Mias de Klerk (Micon Construction), Dave Mortlock, Mike Adams (WBHO), Craig Lewis and many others. Today you’ll find Lowveld Canoe Club tucked beneath the towering blue gum trees, positioned on the edge of Lake Longmere.Besides being blessed with pristine calm water, the lake is also home to an abundance of fauna and flora. Members and their families are encouraged to enjoy the premises and to relax and unwind in the peaceful setting.
